These cherry oat pancakes have a soft texture, making them easy for babies to hold, which is perfect for baby-led weaning (BLW)
Ingredients
- Cherries1/2 cup
- Oats1/2 cup
- Whole wheat flour1/2 cup
- Milk1/2 cup
- Spices, cinnamon1/4 tsp
- Baking powder1/2 tsp
- Banana1 piece
Common allergens (USDA)
Recommended after 12 months old
Steps
- 1. If you prefer a smoother texture, blend the rolled oats in a blender or food processor to create a finer oat flour. Otherwise, leave them whole for added texture.
- 2. In a mixing bowl, combine the oats (or oat flour), whole wheat flour, cinnamon, and baking powder. Add the mashed banana and the liquid (water, breast milk, or formula). Stir until well combined. Gently fold in the chopped cherries.
- 3. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- 4. Using a ladle or small scoop, pour small portions of the batter onto the skillet. Cook each pancake for 2-3 minutes on one side, or until bubbles form on the surface. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 5. Allow the pancakes to cool slightly before serving them to your baby. They can be served as finger food for baby-led weaning.
