- Sweet potato1 medium
Common allergens (USDA)
Recommended after 12 months old
Steps
- 1. Wash, peel, and cut the sweet potato into 1-inch cubes. Wash the asparagus thoroughly and trim off the tough ends (about 1 inch from the bottom). Cut the asparagus into 1-inch pieces.
- 2. Steam the sweet potato cubes for about 8 minutes. Add the asparagus pieces to the steamer and continue steaming both vegetables for another 4-5 minutes, or until both are very soft when pierced with a fork.
- 3. You can choose to blend or mash with fork. For blending, transfer the cooked sweet potato and blend until smooth, adding water or breastmilk/formula to reach the desired consistency. You can choose to blend asparagus together if you prefer purees.
- 4. Let cool before serving. Asparagus is perfect for baby-led-weaning along with the mashed sweet potato!
