This simple and nutritious butternut squash puree is the perfect first food for babies. Made with just a few wholesome ingredients, it's easy to prepare and packed with essential vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients

  • Winter squash (butternut, acorn, buttercup, etc.)~3 cubes
  • Breastmilk1/4 cup

Steps

  1. 1. Peel, seed, and cube the butternut squash. You can cut the whole butternut squash and freeze leftover for later.
  2. 2. Place the squash cubes in a steamer basket and steam for 15-20 minutes, or until very soft.
  3. 3. Transfer the cooked squash to a blender. Add the breastmilk or formula. You can choose to mash with forks or blend until smooth and creamy.
  4. 4. Serve warm or at room temperature. Refrigerate any leftovers for up to 3 days.
  5. 5. If desired, add more breast milk/formula to adjust the consistency.
